School Garden – Field Trips – Special Events
Our School Garden
Plant Life Cycle lessons occur each day in our school gardens where the children work together and create a beautiful space to observe nature in progress.
- The students weed, water and taste everything they grow, while the butterflies and birds benefit from our efforts.
- Edgewood students learn about California plants with water conservation.
- Children measure rainfall and tally the gallons of water used each week in caring for their garden.
- Vegetables, fruits, herbs and succulents grow abundantly under “Young Gardeners” care and attention.
In addition to our garden, we have a tortoise habitat where our students are able to observe, care and feed their animals.

In keeping with our educational philosophy, field trips are part of our Edgewood curriculum at all levels. All students will go on regularly scheduled field trips. Field trips are a learning opportunity for young children to discover the world around them. When planning field trips, the staff looks for venues that contribute to an activity that they have been learning about in the classroom. As a parent, you will be able to accompany your child on the different field trips.
